D-Day 80th Anniversary

Ysgol Rhiwabon had the honour of being invited to two D-Day commemorations on June 6th.

At 9:30am Mrs Wright-Davies accompanied Cian Roberts and Maddie Jones to Cefn Mawr Cenotaph where they placed a wreath on behalf of staff and students of Ysgol Rhiwabon, along with some of the other local schools.

At midday, Mrs Wright-Davies and Mrs Potts had the privilege of taking Jake and Katie McGlynn to Wrexham’s D-Day 80th Anniversary Commemoration Event in St Giles’ Church.
After the service Jake and Katie took part in the procession, where they proudly carried flags of the nations involved 80 years ago.

Mrs Vanessa Wright-Davies, Lead Learner for Year 7 and Curriculum Lead for History said,

‘’ All four students were a credit to their families and the school and we were delighted to have been invited to take part’’.
